One of the first passion projects on my mission to #GreenCapeTown was to rid the beaches of waste e.g harmful materials to children and animals alike and encourage those to get involved as volunteers.
On the 6th of June I hosted my own beach clean-up & fundraiser picnic on Clifton Beach, after we collected 4 to 5 green bags filled with waste to be recyled – I decided to reward everyone for being there by giving away generously donated drinks from Sir Fruit aka Sir Juice & food from Caffe Villagio (in Sable Square), all vegetarian-friendly meals on a beautiful picnic set-up sponsored by Dial-A-Picnic and I then played some fun games & gave away several vouchers donated by Sevruga, The Beauty Spot as well as Spoilt Hair & Nails.
My event was themed around greening and at the same time a campaign to raise awareness for why we should keep our beach clean – tourism, local & foreign top attractions in Cape Town, reduce harm to environment, animals and barefoot children on beaches.
I would also like to thank all my friends who joined me on this day, volunteered to clean Clifton and donated money towards my Miss Earth SA journey! The support meant the world to me and I was overwhelemed by such #GreenLove!
