On the 11th of June I was given the opportunity to represent Miss Earth South Africa in Arlene Whatt’s Soup Kitchen event which she kindly threw for her birthday in the spirit of #GivingBack – I was able to contribute 3 bowls of rice and 24 cans of bean and tomato mixture which was appreciated by all those who came and received food for their tummies.

This was a heart-touching experience as the whole community got involved, this took place in Canterbury Street where I stood and dished up food for the homeless for 5 hours.
I also got to share the Miss Earth South Africa message and ethos with all those who attended , in between the tears, and I got to share special moments with the grateful who came through for soup, pasta, bread and curry from afar.
I one day hope to look deeper into the food security issue in SA – I INTEND TO COMBAT THIS BY STARTING WITH WASTE FROM RESTAURANTS
